"My favorite part of being a diva is the privilege of fellowshipping and interacting with other disabled women who have similar lived experiences like my own. I also feel like I am holding space for other disabled African young women who are not privileged to have a voice, access to the internet and access to social media." - Wanja Maina

If want you to be a GDA, please tell us (in 500 words or less), why you want to become a DWD Global Ambassador. Note: we ask for a two-year commitment to serve as a GDA to allow you time to acclimate to your role and build strong relationships with your community. What is the global diva ambassador program (gdap)? The Global Diva Ambassador Program (GDAP) is an outreach program created to reach Divas worldwide through events, programs and initiatives. The Divas with Disabilities Project’s (DWD) mission is to shape the perception of what “disability” looks like by promoting women of color through various media platforms. We interpret the meaning of “look” not only as the outer beauty, but also the achievements and accomplishments of Black and Brown women and girls with physical with disabilities.
What is a Global Diva Ambassador (GDA)? Our global ambassadors are volunteers who carry out the mission of DWD through events, initiatives, and programs within their region. Each initiative focuses on one of the core values of DWD. Serving as a GDA, your leadership and advocacy will help advance the mission of DWD. “I envision a world where everyone is given an opportunity to lead their dreams due to their abilities and not their status.” - Elizabeth Mang'eni
