Dear Friends,
It’s official! Applications for the 2021 - 2022 American Music Abroad (AMA) Virtual Season are live online! And we need your help!
We want to represent all the diversity of America, and, so far, neurodivergent musicians and musicians with disabilities have been underrepresented among AMA applicants. We ask that you share this announcement with your network to help attract artists who would like to share their experiences with a broader international audience.
We are seeking virtual-ready bands with one to eight members from all musical genres. To be eligible, all band members must be U.S. citizens and 18+ years of age. Each participating musician in the finalist bands will receive a $300 honorarium per virtual programming day, for up to 30 days of pay over a 9-12-month period. All digital production expenses are covered, and bands will have free access to equipment and digital tool kits.
The AMA program is a part of a legacy of 70 years of cultural diplomacy through the U.S. Department of State, bringing people together across the world through the universal language of music. And this year, being completely virtual opens new doors to connect musicians and audiences on a scale like never before!
The AMA Virtual season will take place between July 2021 and May 2022. Bands are chosen through a competitive online process. Selected bands will partner with U.S. Embassies worldwide to create virtual programming that uses technology to connect people across vast cultural divides.
Please click here to see the AMA Virtual website for full details of the program and application process. And don't hesitate to email ama@americanvoices.org with questions.
We look forward to receiving applications before January 25, 2021!
Best,
American Music Abroad
